Rob Reiner and Michele Singer Reiner Tragically Killed in Los Angeles Home

Hollywood legend Rob Reiner and his wife, Michele Singer Reiner, were found dead in their Los Angeles home on Sunday in what authorities are treating as an apparent homicide, sending shockwaves through the entertainment world. The bodies of the 78-year-old director and his 68-year-old wife were discovered on December 14, 2025, inside their Brentwood residence.

Paramedics responded to a call for medical aid at around 3:30 p.m. local time and found both Reiner and Singer Reiner with what appeared to be stab wounds, prompting law enforcement to launch a full homicide investigation. The Los Angeles Police Department's Robbery-Homicide Division is leading the inquiry, and officials are conducting interviews with family members and searching for more evidence as the case develops.

The couple's daughter reportedly discovered the bodies, according to multiple sources, and while police have not publicly confirmed a suspect, several reports indicate that their son is being questioned in connection with the deaths. Authorities have not yet released official details about the motive for the killings.

Rob Reiner was one of Hollywood's most well-known figures, with a career that spanned acting, directing, producing, and political activism. He first became a household name in the 1970s for his Emmy-winning portrayal of "Meathead" on the classic sitcom All in the Family. Later, he directed a series of iconic films that have left a lasting imprint on American cinema including This Is Spinal Tap, Stand By Me, When Harry Met Sally, The Princess Bride, and A Few Good Men.

Michele Singer Reiner was a respected photographer and collaborator in her own right; her work and partnership with her husband spanned decades. The couple had been married since 1989 and are survived by their three children: Jake, Nick, and Romy, along with Rob's adoptive daughter from a previous marriage.

Tributes have poured in from colleagues, friends, and public figures mourning the loss of Reiner's contributions to film and culture. Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass described the deaths as a "devastating loss" for the city and the nation, praising Reiner's impact on storytelling, social advocacy, and community engagement. California Governor Gavin Newsom also expressed sorrow over the couple's deaths, highlighting Reiner's longstanding activism and philanthropy.

The investigation is ongoing, and the LAPD has appealed to the public for any information that might assist them. As details continue to emerge, the deaths of Rob and Michele Reiner remain a deeply tragic and unresolved chapter in Hollywood history.
